friday findings

coming up with blog title's is my least favorite part of blogging.

anyways...here are some things I saw this week on the web that I liked!

loving this idea. i think it would be fun to do something different for the guestbook and this little question books would be so fun and i think the questions would be easy to answer for guests.

these wedding programs are fabulous.

this fingerprint paper cutting is amazing! i would love to have one of these! although i will have to save up $350 to get one of these. they are hand-cut. i can't imagine the time and patience it takes to make one of these.

love this diy idea. just imagine all the possibilities with all the different cupcake liners there are!

i really like the idea of using our silhouettes for the wedding. i think it is a very classic image but is starting to become more modern. i think they would be cool to put on the invitations and programs.

a lot of wedding related things today.
hope you enjoyed!

have an amazing weekend! mine will include making cards, a little shopping with a friend, a trip to an apple orchard, and probably some baseball watching. go rangers!

etsy takes work and some goals for WRP

When I first opened my etsy shop in July I put everything into it. I was doing my internship at the time but had a lot of free time in the evenings to dedicate to get it going. I was on the front page of etsy the first week I was open! This was huge for me!

School started late August but I still found time to give to my shop. Then midterms came around at the end of September and beginning of October. I pretty much put etsy on the back burner. I still renewed things daily but that was it. My sales and views went down majorly.

I am trying to get my shop ready for Christmas now and I have been putting more work into it the last week or so and all of a sudden my views went up and I started getting more convos and sales! It's crazy what a little bit of effort will do for my etsy shop. Next time I am in the slump I need to remember this and get to work!

Here are some of my goals for WRP in the coming months:
  • Sell 8 christmas card and tag sets
  • Sell 10 sets of christmas cards
  • Sell 8 sets of christmas tags
  • Increase my views every month
  • Increase my number of sales every month
  • List 3 new things a month
  • Get on the front page 1 more time before the end of the year
I feel like writing these down will help me remember them. And as I reach them I will feel like I have accomplished something. Some may be a little too high but I will try to get them done!

Also, I created a facebook page for my shop! You should go here and "like" it! Thanks so much!

wrp christmas

Here is a preview of whats to come in my shop for Christmas! I am super excited about this! I am still waiting on a few things to come in so this isn't everything. I plan on getting this listed by November 14th. I am planning on selling a set of everything and then selling them individually as well. Enjoy!

This is one of the two sets of cards you will get in the card and tag set. They come with kraft envelopes. I am waiting on red envelopes for the other set of cards.
I really like the way these turned out! You will get 8 of these in the set.
You will get four of these red tags along with white ones that match (waiting on some super cool white paper to finish these)
These are labels! You will get four of each one in the set!

I would love to know what you think of these! I can't wait to get them listed!

P.S. we are taking our engagement pictures today! I am super excited!! Can't wait to share them with you!

5 year journal

So my birthday was about 3.5 months ago. I blogged about it here. I completely forgot to share another thing I got from my mom that came a few weeks after my birthday. My 5-year journal! She got it from here. I am loving it! I can't wait until next year when I can read what I wrote about this year and so on and so on. The quality of it is really nice. I like how the journaling space for each day is small so I only have to write like 2 sentences a day and it only takes a couple of minutes to do! I am so proud of myself because I haven't missed a day yet!

heart rocks

About 3 years ago I went on a mission trip to Haiti. Since then Haiti has always been a part of my heart. When I saw these rocks I fell in love. I would so give them away as favors at our wedding if they weren't $10 each. I plan on finding a reason to buy a few of these.

taken from here:

"Help support Haitian artisans by giving a beautiful hand carved heart rock.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these handmade Haitian river stone hearts will fund the Haitian relief activities of the HAND/EYE Artisan Grant Program.

Amenity supports skilled artisans in their struggle to earn decent livelihoods through preservation of their ancient crafts and innovation of modern ones."

pumpkins

I have been a bad blogger the last couple of days. I have been super busy with school and WRP stuff. But I am back!

I have seen a lot of pumpkin blog posts lately so I decided to post some of my favorites that I have seen. I can't wait until next fall so I can decorate with all these fun pumpkins!

I found this one here. I LOVE these! There is even a tutorial on how to make them here. And they aren't real so you can use them again and again!

These are from Martha Stewart (via this blog). I have never carved a pumpkin but when I get the chance to do so I am for sure going to try this!

Not crazy about the bug ones but LOVE the wood print one. I found it here.

I do love these pumpkins but I also really love the candy jars. It is a simple way to bring the color of fall and halloween into your home without going over board. And I love peach-o's so why not have a container full of them?

Hope you enjoyed the pumpkins! Have a good weekend!

fruit chair

I have this chair that my mom got from my grandparents. My mom got it reupholstered like 10 years ago. The fabric has fruit on it. I call it the fruit chair. I'm sure at the time it looked good but now that I took ownership of it I want to give it a more modern feel. I love the shape of it and it's super comfey to sit in.

Enter this video. If you have 15 minutes of free time and like design, re purposing, home decor, or furniture than you should watch it. I really enjoyed it. I found it on Design Sponge.

Spruce Upholstery is located in Austin. I love everything about this shop. The people, their style, and the fact that they love what they do. I can't wait to see more videos from them!

This shop and video has inspired me to find a fabric for my chair and get it reupholstered in the next year. This seems like a long time from now but I don't have a place for this chair now. And if I don't write this down now I will forget about it. After the wedding this chair will have a place to live.

I have added a list on the left of my blog where I can put things that I want to accomplish. As I finish them I will blog about it. This is the first one. I hope to add lots to this list soon.

look what i got!

I got it! I am the proud new owner of a zutter bind it all! Friday after work I headed over to hobby lobby and just could not resist. I keep telling myself that it will pay off in the long run, when I start selling the things I bind in my shop.

Here is what I made the first time I used it. I just took random paper I had laying around and glued them back to back and added some hand-made envelopes.

It didn't turn out perfect but I could add pictures and words to it and make it into a mini book!

This is the kind of thing I want to sell in my shop.

What do you think?

friday

Do you remember the bind it all that I want? Well I was looking at Hobby Lobby's website and they have a coupon on there for 40% of any one item!! (if you are wanting anything from hobby lobby now is the time to get it! just go on their website and get the coupon!)

So I did the math and I can get the bind it all for $41.99!! I am very tempted to go to Hobby Lobby today or tomorrow and pick this up! I will let you know on Monday if I got it or not!

I am starting to think of Christmas card designs for my shop. I need to get them done and listed soon. Christmas really isn't that far away.

I am also thinking about rebranding WRP just a little bit. When I first opened shop I rushed through the branding process because I just wanted to get my cards out there and start selling them. Now that I have had time to think what I want my brand to look like I want to make changes to what I have already put out there. This will be a slow process but I am eager to do it soon.

I have some ideas brewing in my brain and I am sure to share the final products with you later.

Thanks for reading! Hope you have a great weekend!

Mine will include dinner with friends, trip to hobby lobby, college football, and a cookout.

honeymoon in mexico

Our honeymoon will be the first vacation we take with just the two of us. It was important to us to find a place we would both enjoy and a place where we could relax and not have to worry about anything.

After 2 months of research we finally found what looks like the perfect place and have booked it!

Since we are both still in school and not working full time jobs our budget for the honeymoon was kind of small. We looked at staying in the states. Flying was a little cheaper that way but the price of a nice hotel and food quickly would add up. We looked at Colorado, Florida, and even Alaska.

I fell in love with the thought of an Alaskan honeymoon. If you know Matthew you know he loves the snow and outdoors so I thought Alaska would be perfect! Flying to Alaska was expensive and the trip would have been road trip style (which we decided would be fun but not for our honeymoon). The cost of car rental, food, hotel and flight quickly went out of our budget. I was sad that it wasn't going to happen but I quickly got over it with the promise to go there someday (I can't wait!!).

Then we started looking at the Caribbean and saw that it was cheapest to go to Mexico. At first we tried to avoid Mexico because of all the violence but you really can't beat the price. Plus all-inclusive resorts on the beach are pretty nice.

So here is where we are going:

Dreams Villamagna Nuevo Vallarta in Mexico!!

Here are some pictures of this fabulous resort:

Room with balcony. Ours won't be facing the ocean like this one but I am sure we will have a nice view.

A look at the very modern and very nice bathroom.

The balcony has a jacuzzi!

Here is the resort grounds. Lots of swimming pools and the beach is just a few steps away!

I am super excited!!

Wedding decision 1 out of 34923 done!

Just kidding I have more than 1 done...more like 5  :)

engagement picture clothes

Here are the outfits I think I am going to wear for our engagement pictures!

1. I ordered the dress and am waiting for it to come in. I really hope it fits good and isn't too short. I already have the leopard flats and I got the necklace at a store called Charming Charlie in Cedar Park. (If you ever have a chance to go to a Charming Charlie, go! It is a super cute store and has all kinds of accessories sorted by color!)

2. I wanted a fall-like outfit and I wanted to wear my Tom's too. I already have all of these pieces. I will probably just wear a grey shirt under the jacket.

3. I found the denim dress and necklace at Charlotte Russe. Since the necklace has a little bit of light pink in it I thought it would look cool to have light pink tights underneath. I don't have the tights yet but plan on ordering them soon.

What do you think?

Now all I need to do is figure out what Matt is going to wear! I have some ideas but need to figure it out soon.

I might be MIA the next couple of days because I have a big retirement planning mid term coming up on thursday. However I most likely will find the time for blogging (it's a good distraction from studying :).

currently wanting

For WRP I want to make and sell mixed paper journals. While researching ways to bind these journals I came across the zutter bind it all. This little (and affordable, at least I think so) machine will punch holes and bind books! It uses metal wire for the binding (which is a major plus!).

Putting it on my list of things I want.

That list includes:

and now the Zutter Bind It All

navy blue dress

I am on the hunt for a navy blue dress for engagement pictures.
Engagement pictures are Oct. 27th.
I am loving this one from ModCloth.
I have added it to my shopping cart many times but am deciding to wait a little bit longer.
If I don't find one in the next week I will most likely order this one.
Going to Austin this weekend so maybe I will find one there.
Hopefully.

P.S. I did find navy blue dress at TJ Maxx but most likely taking it back today. Rushed into the purchase and am not happy with it.

Will keep you posted on the hunt.

faux bois rug

While going throughout the archives over at Young House Love (yes I am an obsessive blog reader and start at the beginning of some blogs and read every single post in order) I stumbled across this post and saw this picture:

Do you see what is in the top left corner? A faux bois rug! It is put together with 19.7" square flor tiles. I think they would be great for putting together a smaller rug or maybe a runner because at $19.99 a tile putting together a larger rug could get pretty expensive. I absolutely LOVE the print and colors and am now wanting a faux bois rug for my future home.

engagement mini book

After a delay in getting my pictures printed (it took about 3 weeks to get them after I ordered them!) I finally finished my engagement mini book! I really like the way it turned out! I just took the words from this post and added pictures. It is pretty wordy but I wanted it to be detailed so I can look back and be reminded of everything.
 Enjoy!
