documenting life :: part 1

This is the first post of two that I am going to share with you how I plan to document this year. There are going to be a lot of changes this year (putting a wedding together, getting married, moving to who knows where) and I want to remember them all and be able to look back at these moments. I keep thinking way down the road when we have kids. I want them to be able to look at these things and see what we were like when we were first married and things we did.

There are three things that I am doing now that are digital. I will get to the paper things tomorrow.

1. Blogging

The main reason I started this blog was to document things happening in my life. I like to look back at old posts because it helps me remember those times. It is so much easier for me to type some things then to write them out by hand. So I am much more likely to blog about it then write it in a journal. Some examples of things I am glad I blogged about are: the story of our engagement, my very first inspiration board of what I was wanting at the moment for our wedding, and what I did to ask my girls to be bridesmaids. These all seem to be wedding related things but that is so where I am right now and where I have been for the past 6 months (and where I will be for the next 4ish months :)

I need to always remember why I created this blog. I started it for me.

2. Oh Life

I don't remember where I first heard of this but when I did I thought it would be a great way to make my 5 year journal process easier. Oh Life sends you an email everyday (you can set what time it sends) and asks you how your day was. All you do is hit the reply button and type how your day went and send it back! That's it! It is so easy to do on my phone.

Another thing I like about it is when it asks you how your day was it also shows what you wrote a week ago, a month ago, or a year ago depending on how long you have been doing it for.

If I ever get caught up in my five year journal (yes I am a little/a lot behind) I have something I can look back at to see what happened that day!

3. Pictures

I love to take pictures. And look at pictures. I think they tell events and stories the best. Since I have moved back home with my mom and her DSLR I feel like I am prone to taking more pictures. Don't ask me why but I prefer taking pictures with my mom's camera then with my point and shoot. Well I will tell you why. The pictures are so much better!

Me and Matt are planning on getting this camera before the wedding as our wedding present to each other. I also am planning on getting this lens too. As a present to myself. For getting through tax season in a tax office. Having that camera will be a wonderful thing to have at the beginning of our marriage. Can't wait to take lots of pictures! :)

See you tomorrow for the paper version of documenting life! :)

friday five

Have you ever heard of Rue Magazine? If not you have got to check it out! It is an online magazine that is filled with tons of pretty things. You will not be disappointed.

This room was featured in the most current issue Rue and I love the blue chevron curtains and that yellow chair!
Love this eating area in this kitchen. Especially those chairs.

LOVE this headboard! So simple but makes such a huge impact. And the room is gray and yellow and those are the colors of our future bedroom! :)

This has been a very good week for my blog and shop. Ami from Elizabeth Anne Design had posted  on her blog that she wanted to make some inspiration boards for some readers. So I sent her an email telling her all about my vision for the wedding and she created an inspiration board for me! I love it! She also linked back to my blog which made me really happy!

Also, I am currently a sponsor over at Lindsay's wonderful blog, Aisle to Aloha. She featured me today and I am so happy I decided to be a sponsor. You should check out her shop too! She has some amazing paintings. I adore her cuties!

I just wanted to say welcome to my new readers! Thank you so much for stopping by and reading my blog! :)

save the dates

Here they are! I really had so much fun designing them and putting them together. We only sent them out to family and the bridal party so I didn't have too many to do. If there would have been more I may have not enjoyed it as much. :)

Please excuse the mess on the table. That is what happens when I start paper crafting.

I used all my favorites. Bakers twine, happy tape, and envelope liners! All of these things make me very happy! :)

Let me know what you think!

m&w

since the last m&w post...

m started his last semester of school. he is taking his senior studio class, a financial planning class, political science, and golf.

m has 3 day weekends every weekend. totally not fair. especially compared to w's one day weekends.
w got her first paycheck. hello working world :)

w decided that they are having a vintage wedding instead of the modern one she was envisioning. she likes this much better!
m&w did not see each other at all these past two weeks :(

m&w have both been working out. m is doing a little P90x and w is doing this and running on the treadmill (okay she ran on the treadmill once)

m&w are currently reading the five love languages together.

this weekend

This weekend was very uneventful for me. My mom went with a friend (who owns the cutest shop here in town that I can't wait to register at!) to the Dallas home and gifts market. I was supposed to go with them but I couldn't get off work. She sent me lots of pictures along the way and got some cool stuff for the wedding. Here are a few things they ordered.

Mostly things for centerpieces.
I can't wait to show you what we are going to do with that fake grass!

Kelsey went to Ignite in Amarillo with the youth group this weekend so I was home all by myself Friday night. I did not like that very much. I worked all day Saturday and did nothing that night but I was happy the house was full again. Sunday I went to church and then after made this little guy. It needs some more work before I get it listed but hope to do that later this week. Let me know what you think!

I bought this game for the wii to help with my lack of determination for working out. I have done it 3 times so far and like it ok. I have been a little sore these last couple of days so I guess that means it's working! Trying to mix this in with running.

friday five

Who would have thought you could make ice cream out of these ingredients? I really want to try this.

Love what how about orange did with stiffened fabric. I also love tutorials. May have to incorporate stiffened fabric in the wedding somehow.

Heart garland also made of stiffened fabric.

Another tutorial that I need to try soon, or maybe next winter. A scarf.

Absolutely love this clear trunk with magazines in it. I will be keeping my eye out for something like this for sure! I also really like that chevron rug.

Looks like I have had diy on the brain lately.
